Paro: Bhutan

Day 1: Arrival in Paro

  • Pick-up at Paro International Airport.
  • Visit Paro Rinpung Dzong and National Museum (Ta Dzong).
  • Evening stroll in Paro town.
  • Overnight in Paro hotel.

Day 2: Paro Sightseeing & Hike to Tiger’s Nest

  • Full-day hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest).
  • Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples.
  • Trek briefing & preparation.
  • Overnight in Paro.

Day 3: Trek Begins – Paro to Jele Dzong

  • Trek distance: ~8 km / 4–5 hrs
  • Altitude: 2,580m → 3,480m
  • Steady uphill climb through blue pine forest.
  • Camp near Jele Dzong, with stunning valley views.
  • Overnight in camp.

Day 4: Jele Dzong – Jangchulakha

  • Trek distance: ~10 km / 4–5 hrs
  • Altitude: 3,480m → 3,770m
  • Gentle trek along ridges & rhododendron forests.
  • Possible yak herder camps along the way.
  • Overnight in camp at Jangchulakha.

Day 5: Jangchulakha – Jimilangtsho Lake

  • Trek distance: ~11 km / 5–6 hrs
  • Altitude: 3,770m → 3,870m
  • Trek along ridges with panoramic mountain views.
  • Camp near Jimilangtsho Lake, famous for giant trout.
  • Overnight in camp.

Day 6: Jimilangtsho – Simkota Tsho

  • Trek distance: ~11 km / 4–5 hrs
  • Altitude: 3,870m → 4,110m
  • Cross high ridges with views of Mt. Jichu Drake & Mt. Gangkar Puensum.
  • Camp beside Simkota Lake.
  • Overnight in camp.

Day 7: Simkota – Phajoding – Thimphu (Trek Ends)

  • Trek distance: ~10 km / 4–5 hrs
  • Altitude: 4,110m → 3,750m → 2,320m
  • Cross Phume La Pass (4,210m) – excellent Himalayan views.
  • Descend through forests to Phajoding Monastery, then continue downhill to Thimphu.
  • Evening free in Thimphu city.
  • Overnight in Thimphu hotel.

Day 8: Thimphu Sightseeing & Departure

  • Morning visit Buddha Dordenma & Tashichho Dzong.
  • Transfer to Paro Airport for departure.
